- How can we reach Leh Ladakh?
There are three ways to reach Ladakh- 1) You can take flight from Delhi/Mumbai/Srinagar to Leh from major airlines such as Indian Airlines or Jet Airways. 2) You can take road journeys either from Manali or Srinagar. It takes 2 day journey (474 kilometers) from Manali to Leh via Keylong with a night stopover in Sarchu. On the other hand, Srinagar to Leh will take 2 days (434 kilometers) with a night halt at Kargil. All the roads remain open from May to October.
- How does one Getting Around Leh?
Travel within Leh City is best done on foot. Distances are short and you get an opportunity to absorb the environment, Local Taxi’s and Buses are also available. Bikes can be hired for moving around. Mountain Bikes are also available on rent for exploring the nearby areas. Taxis are available for long journeys and your further travel to nearby areas. All taxis come with drivers. Self-driven vehicles are not available. One Cannot Use Taxi’s Hired outside leh in the region .
- What is the climate & weather like in Leh Ladakh?
The summer weather is dry and pleasant. Temperature ranges are from 3 to 35 °C in summers and from -20 to -35 °C in winters. From Mid July to End August months, rains can be expected in valleys and snowfall at high mountain passes.
- What is Acute Mountain Sickness or AMS?
Acute mountain sickness can occur to any one at an altitude above 10,000 ft. above sea level, therefore, make sure to take complete rest on the day of arrival and get you acclimatized. For proper acclimatization, we suggest atleast spend 2-3 days in Leh city only. For proper acclimatization, please drink as well as carry plenty of water. It is advisable to carry Diomax and Disprin as a backup. Seek urgent medical attention if you experience severe headache, frequent vomiting, nausea, blood from nose and breathlessness. Alcohol and tobacco should be completely avoided.
