Where Is Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary Located?

You may have heard a lot about the famous tigers gone missing from Sariska wildlife sanctuary story. And out of this curiosity, we also want to know where is Sariska wildlife sanctuary located?

Sariska wildlife sanctuary is a tiger reserve in Alwar, Rajasthan. It covers an area of 881 square km. Its forests comprise of thorn arid forests, dry deciduous forests, grasslands, and rocky Aravalli hills.

This area has been a hunting forest since the time of Akbar. It was later declared a wildlife reserve in 1955. It was also given the status of a tiger reserve in 1978. The wildlife sanctuary was thereafter declared a national park in 1990. 

It is said to be the first reserve in the world that has successfully relocated tigers. Sariska National Park is a very important biodiversity in the Aravalli ranges in Rajasthan. It is also important for the leopard and wildlife corridor in Rajasthan.

From Delhi

Sariska is located 200 km from Delhi Center. It falls in the Alwar district. It is 160 km from Gurgaon. From Delhi, it will take about 4.5 hours to drive time in normal traffic.

The driving direction from Delhi and Gurgaon is below:

1. Head towards NH48 (Outer Ring Road) from anywhere in Delhi.
2. Continue to NH 48 (Jaipur Highway) till Bhiwadi.
3. From Bhiwadi take SH25 till Alwar.
4. After Alwar takes NH248A to reach to Sariska Booking office.

From Jaipur

Sariska is located 115 km from Jaipur center. It will take you 2.5 hours to reach Sariska booking office in normal traffic.

The driving direction from Jaipur is below:

1. Head towards NH248 (Kukas Road) from anywhere in Jaipur.
2. Continue to NH248 till Chandwaji.
3. From Chandwaji take NH48 till Shahpura.
4. After Shahpura take NH248A to reach to Sariska Booking office.

From Agra

Sariska has located 200 km from the Agra center. It will take you 4.5 hours to reach Sariska booking office in normal traffic.

The driving direction from Jaipur is below:

1. Head towards NH21 (Dausa Road) from anywhere in Agra.
2. Continue to NH21 till Mahwa.
3. From Mahwa take SH35 till Rajgarh.
4. After Rajgarh take SH25 till Mala Khera.
5. From Mala Khera take NH248A to reach to Sariska Booking office.
